In history there were different methods for capturing photographs. In the video The Wet Collodion Process it says "In 1851 the Englishman Frederick Scott Archer invented the wet collodion process of making wet negatives." This shows that photographs go way back from recent times. In the other video Before There Were Pixels- Part 2 our professor even says "there was another type of camera they are called twin lens reflexes." There were all these different types of ways to capture pictures. Today it's as simple as clicking a button on your phone. We can't forget where it all came from though considering back then it may not have been as simple as unlocking your I-phone and pressing a button. For example one type of photography equipment were the speed graphic cameras. These beauties was a box shape with a leather strap. At the time they were preferable for photojournalists for the early to mid 20th century. This type helped with news and sports photography along with helping military photographers. This specific camera has helped aerial, and even underwater photography with both amateur and professionals being able to use this .
This camera model was especially helpful for war photographers. Even though these cameras were very tedious in sliding the holder back in after every picture their pro was that you could move pretty fast and still get a reasonable picture. This was due to their superb quality negative. This in general gave amateur photographers and even professionals a way to capture things quicker. At the time when things were happening faster they could react quicker to whatever was happening. In the video WeeGee Tells How an important quote is brought up "photography teaches you to think fast to be sure of your self-confidence". When something is happening you have to know this is it, and might need a camera that can help back that up. Overall shifting the convenience of taking a picture. Pictures in general help tell a story hence why it's so important to have cameras that are new and improved. Nowadays medical students can even learn from pictures and in the article Photography That Changed the Way We View War it says "pictures of the wounded were equally gruesome. A Washington surgeon used them to teach medical students." Which shows even in earlier times people learned from images of such detail.
When comparing this piece of photography to being able to take pictures on my phone there is no comparison. New phones of this day in age are quicker, easier, and instantaneous. While the speed graphic was the I-phone of it's time in a way with being able to move around and still getting good film that can be related to I-phone. Everything else can't. Your I-phone can take your picture without you even holding it. You can save and send photos all over the world with these new cameras nowadays. Even the size and shape comes down to conveniency. With the I-phones you can hold a phone with one hand and be eating food in another and still take a great picture all while running if you want.
Attached below is an example of the picture I have taken with my own camera.

The reason I wanted to compare this picture is because just with my phone I was able to take such a beautifully detailed picture all while moving. There is no blurs, and lines from moving just amazing detail. You can see the shape of the clouds the waves in the water, and even the little bits of dirt on the ground. Now to compare what kind of pictures you can take today with the speed graphic camera the next attached photo is from a speed graphic camera.

As you can see Marilyn's dress is flowing and the picture still came out amazing. It had a slight blur, but the way it was captured is still beautiful. On todays phones this could've been captured with no blurs, and in color as well.
